Ichougaoka-Hachiman Shrine

Ichougaoka-Hachiman Shrine is said to be build in 11th century on the hill looking down the Sumida river. Ichou means ginkgo.

There was a huge ginkgo tree but was broken by a tyhoon in 1745 and was burned in 1806. However, there are still some ginkgo trees in this shrine and you can enjoy yellow leaves in late autumn.
