Ushijima Shrine

Ushijima Shrine is in Sumida-ku alongside the Sumida river near Kotodoi bridge. "Ushi" means ox in Japanese.

It is said that your sickness or illness will be cured if you visit this shrine and pray. There is a statue of ox on the right hand of the main building. Stroke the same part of the ox as yours where you are feeling bad.

Usually, the guardians are dog (at a shrine) or fox (at an inari), but here in Ushijima Shrine they are oxen and dog.

Usually, it is a very calm place, just 10 minutes walk from Asakusa.
